Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and faculty activities for the College of Fine Arts (CFA). Provides oversight of administrative and operational processes for CFA in association with unit supervisors and department managers.
  • Participates in strategic planning by providing guidance and direction to faculty and staff on processes related to faculty appointments and development, including but not limited to: faculty searches, hires, appointment and immigration paperwork, promotion and tenure, college-wide committee elections, personnel issues, evaluations, and merit data.
  • Conducts research related to departmental HR and personnel issues, the collective bargaining agreement, and faculty handbook.
  • Creates, maintains, and analyzes reports for college and departmental leadership regarding faculty and staff retention, turnover, departmental bylaw reviews, name changes to units within the College, Faculty Senate updates, and Promotion & Tenure information. Develops and implements quality control measures ensuring customer satisfaction for both the college and its stakeholders.
  • Serves as the HR Department Manager approving all human resource transactions. Ensures that CFA departments have access to the most up to date material and guidance from the College and University related to Human Resource deadlines, policies and procedures.
  • Supervises and directs staff located in Interior Architecture & Design, Art, Art Education, and Art History. Supervises Dean's Office staff responsible for the front desk operations, record keeping, and HR processes that include OPS and staff advertisements, hires, appointments, time & leave, and evaluations.
  • Responsible for the management and oversight of instructor credentialing for the College. Serves as approver for department submissions in the Instructor Credentialing System and ensures compliance with University policies in regards to instructor credentialing and graduate teaching status. Works in collaboration with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to research, review, and correct all errors. Coordinates FEAS processes for the college. Participates in policy development for HR and faculty development/advancement functions. Develops data collection and recording methods for information storage and retrieval, including Years in Rank/Tenure Clock documents.
  • Serve as a member of the CFA senior management team. Develops and carries out communication procedures for dissemination of University and Dean's Office directives related to human resources, financial activities and faculty development and advancement. Serves in the absence of the UBA Associate Director. Serves as HR Liaison for CFA, its departments, programs and institutes to University Central HR and the University community.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Preferred Qualifications

We seek candidates with a strong background in HR policy management, demonstrated supervisory experience, and a track record of policy and procedure development. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to interpret statutes, policies, and procedures, providing clear guidance to staff. Experience in training and developing staff, particularly in the context of faculty development, promotion, and tenure processes, is highly valued. Previous work in higher education and budget management further enhances the candidate's suitability for this role.
