SEEKING A UNIQUE LEADERSHIP ROLE with CLOSE-KNIT, CARING AND COMPASSIONATE TEAMMATES in a 32-bed Skilled Nursing Rehab?The Assistant Director of Nursing will provide leadership while assisting the Director of Nursing in planning and organizing the overall operation of nursing services to foster the highest degree of quality care. You will assist in directing and supporting a friendly and dynamic team of Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants and will act as Director of Nursing in his/her absence. The Assistant Director of Nursing will assist the Director of Nursing in maintaining the standards of resident care, advising the medical staff, department heads, and administrator in matters related to nursing services. Assist the Director of Nursing in establishing policies, interpreting those policies according to the standards of nursing practice, and with general staff development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Director of Nursing to:
  • Develop, review, and revise standards, guidelines, forms and job descriptions
  • Provide and/or promote staff educational programs, monitor attendance and compliance with mandatory training as required
  • Participate in regularly scheduled management meetings
  • Coordinate the completion of the admission, discharge, and evaluation materials and process for all residents/patients. Ensure appropriate documentation including functional assessments
  • Ensure that all resident/patient rights and responsibilities are protected and enforced
  • Establish and maintain a close liaison with residents/patients and families
  • Promote an environment that allows residents/patients to function as independently as possible
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and other professional service providers
  • Coordinate with appropriate department directors and supervisors for services provided to the residents/patients
  • Maintain all documentation required by state agencies and ensure compliance


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Health Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Job Requirements:

Educational Requirements and Experience :
  • Current state license as an RN (preferred) or LPN with experience in a similar role, including management
  • 2+ years of experience working as a nurse in a Skilled Nursing Rehab and/or long term care facility preferred
  • Experience with standards of care in geriatric services, complex medical conditions, multiple medical diagnosis, including preventive measures, rehab and promoting independence
  • Possesses current CPR, First Aid and Heimlich certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Proficient with MS Office and nursing management applications
