Description

  • Research, write, edit, proofread, and produce internal and external communication materials including news releases, feature stories, e-newsletters, signage, and social media content. implement and manage Athletics' advertising program with third party and collaborate with other District departments to sell sponsorships, to increase revenue for Athletics. Work to help campuses establish advertising best practices for their on-campus venues.
  • Work with stadium managers, announcers, and video board staff to enhance the in-venue fan experience by creating ways to promote the District and Department on video boards and public address systems, including training and professional development for staff associated with the game time experience.
  • Manage the Department's annual Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony from beginning with nomination and selection processes and continuing through event planning and execution.
  • Create opportunities to showcase the District's athletic teams, personnel, and initiatives, including but not limited to video live streaming of games and podcasting.
  • Remain current regarding communication and technology trends.
  • Work closely with District communication services to pitch stories to media about student-athletes. Help develop media content to promote events. Facilitate interviews with student-athletes, coaches, and department staff that are local and statewide media related.

  • Oversee management of the Athletics' website and social media, including updating it on a regular basis to provide an accurate and timely source of information to various audiences.
  • Create or assist in the production of visual graphics to be used in video, website, social media, or other applications. Maintain photo and video archive for the Department.
  • Manage media registration for district-wide athletics events. Oversee production from concept to completion of the District's fall and spring programs, including a hard copy football program. Create or assist in the production of presentation materials. Work closely with the Athletics staff to assure overall quality in content and design.
  • Participate in other event planning and activities that are the responsibility of
  • Athletics, including playoff game operations, district-sponsored tournaments, back-to-school coaches' orientation, professional development sessions for coaches and stadium personnel, and National Signing Day ceremonies.
  • Support operational aspects of the Athletics Department associated with games and athletic events, including overseeing an assigned sport when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Athletics (or Executive Director of Athletics).


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Education, Administration, or a related field required; Communications degree preferred.
  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Education, Administration, or a related field preferred; Communications degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct experience as a campus athletic coordinator, director of athletics, principal, assistant principal, or related position in education required
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Texas Teacher Certificate preferred
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, time management, and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of overall operations of an athletics program, including UIL and District policies governing athletics.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills needed to develop professional relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and District personnel and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, empathy, and ability to resolve conflicts and maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and managerial skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Demonstrates evidence of communications field related experience required
