POSITION SUMMARY

Center Operations Director of Simulation Center Operations, reporting directly to the Director of Simulation Center Operations, collaborates with academic leaders, the Faculty Director of the Simulation Center, and key education and clinical faculty to support strategic initiatives and enhance the national reputation of the Simulation Center. This role entails managing operational, administrative, and financial functions, fostering partnerships, and ensuring alignment with the institution's strategic priorities.

The mission of UT Southwestern's Simulation Center is to use state-of-the-art simulation technologies to leverage the most comprehensive educational modalities. Our purpose is to enhance the quality of education and verification of skills through integrated and proficiency-based curricula.

UT Southwestern's Simulation Center includes of 49,000 square feet of Virtual Operating Rooms, Emergency Rooms, Intensive Care Units, Obstetrics/Gynecology suite, Robotic Surgery, 20 Standardized patient rooms, Interchangeable high-fidelity rooms, laparoscopic training space, classrooms, task training and bench model skills labs, and an engineering and innovations lab.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, science, or a related field.

• Four (4) years of experience with logistics and operations

• Two (2) years in a management role.

• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

PREFERRED

• Master's degree with commensurate work experience.

• Healthcare Administration

• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

JOB DUTIES

• As part of the leadership team, makes decisions based on operations analysis.

• Oversight of daily operations of the department by coordinating effectively with all department groups, offices, divisions, and other parts of the institution.

• Actively oversees activities that are related to or have an impact on the department, assuring compliance and standardization.

• Oversight of Faculty recruitment.

• Oversees/reviews procurement, business affairs, and supply chain processes and transactions.

• Assists with facilities management.

• Prepares and administers budgets for operational programs in collaboration with Department Administrator

• Staff Performance Management process.

• Oversight of the creation of the department's operational processes, procedure, policies, forms, and workflows, including but not limited to performance improvement initiatives, orienting and training staff on specific processes and service standards, and ensuring staff has the tools and resources necessary to perform assigned tasks.

• Assists with the development of strategic operational action plans both internally and institutionally.

• Oversight of the management of operational and quality issues and trends, analyzes subsequent data, facilitates stakeholder meeting to propose solutions to management for performance/process/quality improvement, presents statistics and reports to department leadership for performance improvement opportunities.

• Oversight over the departmental continuous process improvement projects, reporting databases, and quality metrics.

• Provides strategic consultation and guidance to leadership on related operational issues, evaluates business proposals, and creates recommendations for optimizing operational impact on department initiatives.

• Oversight of the preparation of contractual agreements and associated budgets; ensures the timely submission of proposals or agreements, which meet institutional or departmental mandates.

• Provides a high level of service commitment to process improvement and product quality for internal and external customers. Completes complex projects as requested.

• Must have an executive presence and may represent the Department Administrator for operational matters and liaison for business activities.

• Consistently attends meetings and has an institutional minded view when representing the department on financial/operational issues.

• Sets a tone of service excellence and is collaborative in nature focusing on data-based decision-making.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
