Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Digital Media collaborates with various departments and staff to leverage the digital space to engage key constituent groups. The Assistant Director is responsible for staying current with best practices for designing captivating e-mails (according to industry best practices), developing strategy for electronic media, including social media channels, and critically analyzing response data to better enhance communications with key constituents. Responsible for capturing high-quality digital content and editing it into engaging and compelling stories that align with the organization's goals and objectives. When necessary, this position may be asked to assist with the design and production of printed communication pieces and attend events to capture photos/videos.

Management and Supervision
  • Supervise and evaluate direct report personnel and coordinate training to enhance performance.
  • Manage social media coordinator and media specialist. Serves as back up to both positions and helps social media managing development and execution.
  • Manage and assist in developing content across owned and earned social channels. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos, lenses, filters and videos
  • Create short videos and animations for dissemination across electronic media channels
  • Manages all building (foundation and alumni) screens, updates monthly birthday and anniversary screens, post portal announcements, manages all internal e-mail/announcements.
  • Protect confidential information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Videography, Photography and Digital components
  • Planning and preparing for video shoots by scouting locations, setting up equipment, and coordinating with talent or subjects.
  • Capturing high-quality video footage and photographs using a range of cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
  • Editing video footage and photographs to create engaging and compelling visual stories that align with the client's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborating with clients and other team members to develop creative concepts and ideas for video projects.
  • Selecting music, sound effects, and other elements to enhance the overall impact of the video.
  • Managing and organizing video and photo files, ensuring that they are properly labeled, stored, and backed up. Record and edit audio such as voiceovers.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and team members to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest possible standard.
  • Attend events when needed for photography or videography. Run media at events when needed such as PowerPoints or videos. Assist in developing content across owned and earned social channels. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos, lenses, filters and videos
  • Create short videos and animations for dissemination across electronic media channels.
Manage and Supervise all E-mail Marketing
  • Create policy and procedures for our email marketing platforms for both Alumni, Foundation and Division.
  • Assist in design and implement of all Division of University Advancement e-mail communications, including solicitations
  • Monitor e-mail schedules to ensure appropriate e-mail volume and prevent list fatigue
  • Work with database administrators to obtain, review and evaluate recipient lists for digital communications, and to keep all constituent queries or lists current in e-mail system database
  • Train college/unit representatives as they adopt the Foundation e-mail marketing platform. Oversee management of e-mail system in compliance with laws, ADA compliance and Add Event system.
Digital communications planning, metrics and compliance
  • Collaborate with departments and staff (including University Communications) to leverage the digital and social media space Ensure that all digital media channels are optimized to engage key constituent groups. Regularly monitor the FSU Foundation, Division and Alumni Association websites (and affiliate sites) to ensure they meet approved visual identity standards and that content is up to date; Leverage measurement tools to provide progress and performance reports and key insights while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics; Work with various departments within the Division of University Advancement and the University to meet their specific needs and requirements while building and maintaining brand recognition and standards through consistency in design; Participate goal setting and assist with the development, documentation and implementation of appropriate styles, procedures, and protocols.
Management and Supervision
  • Supervise and evaluate direct report personnel and coordinate training to enhance performance.
  • Oversee social media coordinator and student interns/workers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
  • A valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain.
