Job Description:

Assist students enrolled in IDS 1940 Creativity and Design Thinking for Innovation with technical issues in course projects which will include 3D modeling in Autodesk Fusion 360, preparing projects for laser cutting using Adobe Illustrator, and troubleshooting and debugging Arduino microcontroller-based projects. Log student consultations and respond to faculty requests for additional information. Check student tutorial submissions. Maintain regular office hours 10 hours per week, which may include evenings and weekend shifts based on your availability. Office hours will be held primarily in person. Duties may also include additional activities or special projects.

Expected Salary:

$14.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Successful completion of IDS 1940 and Spring 2025 enrollment at the University of Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Desire to learn and troubleshoot new and innovative technologies.
  • Confidence in providing assistance in one on one and group setting.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work.
  • Ability to arrive on time for work and commit to a work schedule in advance is an absolute must.
  • Demonstrated classroom experience with all of the following tools and their application: 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools, power tools, Arduino, electronic soldering and components, Adobe Illustrator, and Fusion 360.
  • Experience implementing the Design Thinking process in projects.
  • Previous teaching or TA experience.
  • Enrollment in UF Innovation Minor

  • Laser cut example - Photo and original Adobe Illustrator file created by applicant.
  • Fusion 360 - Fusion 360 technical drawing in PDF format and .stl file of model.
  • Arduino - Photo or video of working Arduino project and Arduino code used in project in PDF format.
  • Optional - any additional projects that may show relevant skills or experience.
  • Compile portfolio contents only into one ZIP compressed file for submission.
  • Portfolio materials should be from projects completed primarily or completely by applicant.
