VDOT's Richmond District is searching for an Assistant District Engineer, Location and Design to provide management leadership and direction for the Location and Design section. This position will assist in planning, organizing and monitoring project activities. Lead the management of roadway and transportation related design projects consistent with established processes, schedules, budgets, design criteria, standards and specifications. Supervise, train, and provide guidance to team members as needed to support organizational objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Project management coursework and experience
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications
• Knowledge of roadway and transportation design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications and agency policies and procedures
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Valid Professional Engineer's license
• Leadership experience to include project and program management, coaching, counseling and training others
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles as they relate to roadway design and Standard Design technical knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to supervise staff, programs and budgets.
• Experience related to building networks and relationships with employees form other divisions, field personnel, contractors, manufacturers and FHWA representatives.

Additional Considerations

• Experience in project and program management specific to transportation design and civil engineering.
