BASIC OVERVIEW

The Assistant Facilities Manager is responsible for a variety of facilities duties, including overseeing day-to-day service and repairs, capital improvements, and building projects, within a safe workplace for all employees. This role is challenged to develop new tools and resources that increase productivity and support the growth of our business. This position maintains extensive knowledge of the various operations protocols, equipment, and automation while maintaining Company safety policies. Conducts diagnostics and troubleshooting to analyze, improve and repair equipment. The Assistant Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring that all new employees receive proper training in relevant areas and maintaining a high level of proficiency among current employees. This position will train on 1st shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for a variety of facilities duties, including overseeing day-to-day service and repairs, capital improvements, and building projects, within a safe workplace for all employees
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the various operations protocols and identifies areas for improved efficiencies while maintaining Company safety policies
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for assigned department; identify and resolve operating issues as needed, including oversight of corrective actions and progressive discipline process
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations/rules are followed
  • Develop good working relationships with Operations Leadership on all shifts
  • Mentor all maintenance associates by motivating and providing direction to help them achieve their goals and make a consistent effort to go above and beyond
  • Handle multiple internal and externally sponsored projects and daily activities, manage to, and meet deadlines, and develop and track plans on how to accomplish Operational goals
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, through the CMMS, keeping accurate counts to reduce downtime and assist in cost analysis of operation
  • Maintain our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the completion of time/meter based preventative maintenance checklists on all building equipment and assets needed for the operation of the facility:
  • Material handling equipment (MHE)
  • Powered industrial trucks (PIT)
  • HVAC units
  • Personnel lifts and maintenance vehicles
  • Sweeper/Scrubbers
  • Yard jockey trucks
  • Dock equipment-doors, lights, fans, levelers
  • Packaging equipment: Sparck CVP Impack V6, package bundlers, pallet wrappers, void fill machines, scale and cubiscans
  • AutoStore Warehouse Robots
  • Serve as a back-up when Sr. Manager, Facilities & Engineering is absent
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Electrical/mechanical engineering knowledge, includes a strong background in electrical troubleshooting and maintaining industrial equipment
  • Work independently to complete tasks and assignments, while multitasking to meet deadlines
  • Focus on accuracy with a strong attention to detail
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or facilities environment; forklift certification preferred
  • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, etc., including use of power tools, reading schematics, blueprints, and instructions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Proficiency with MS Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and articulately with various members and levels of the team and organization and explain technical and complex concepts in a simple and concise way to ensure ease of understanding
  • Ability to collaborate with various internal and external partners, focusing on results and solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to maintain customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • Ability to work at elevations of up to 50 feet

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift/carry 50-75lbs and push/pull up to 150lbs

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May require occasional travel to other facilities within the region.
