Job Duties

The Commandant's Office is accepting applications for the Assistant Officer in Charge. The AOC assists the Officer in Charge with the supervision of barracks and Institute facilities. This position serves as the Commandant's representative on Post after regular work hours ensuring safety and security of the Corps of Cadets and Institute faculties.
Essential Functions:
• Primarily focuses on safety, security, and maintaining good order and discipline in areas outlined and emphasized by the Officer in Charge.
• Acts as a first responder in the event of emergencies.
• Enforces VMI policies, procedures, and Blue Book, will report cadets found to be in violation.
• Performs other duties as assigned and that are commensurate with the above responsibilities.

Duty Hours:

There are various shifts available:
• Weeknights from 1800-TAPS (2230).
Opportunities during weekends and VMI Closed Post Days.
• The AM shift is 0700-1400.
• The PM shift is 1800-TAPS (Midnight).

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants should have demonstrated leadership experience.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working with young adults in a structured environment.
