Position Summary:

The Assistant Principal is a vital member of the school leadership team responsible for supporting the principal in the overall administration and management of the school. This role requires a dynamic and compassionate individual who can provide instructional leadership, cultivate positive relationships with students, staff, and families, and uphold high standards of excellence and equity in all aspects of school operations.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Professional teacher and leadership certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education prior to starting date
  • At least three years of successful P-12 teaching/leadership experience
  • Fingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to the start date

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the principal to develop and implement a shared vision for academic excellence and student success
  • Support the implementation of research-based instructional practices and assessment strategies to improve student outcomes
  • Ensure the effective implemention of the Alabama Course of Study (ACOS) across all subject areas and grade levels
  • Provide instructional coaching, feedback, and support to teachers to enhance their instructional effectiveness and professional growth
  • Promote a positive school culture and safe learning environment conducive to academic achievement and social-emotional development
  • Implement and enforce school discipline policies and procedures fairly and consistently
  • Work collaboratively with school employees to address student behavioral and social-emotional needs
  • Assist the principal with scheduling, supervision of students and staff, and management of school facilities
  • Coordinate and oversee school-wide events, programs, and initiatives to promote student engagement and community involvement
  • Collaborate with district administrators, parents, and community stakeholders to support school improvement efforts
  • Analyze student achievement data, attendance records, and other relevant metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to inform instructional planning, resource allocation, and school improvement efforts
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and development to enhance leadership skills, stay abreast of best practices in education, and promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support employee growth and development through coaching, mentoring, and participation in professional learning communities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and other district administrators

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee must also talk, hear, stand, and walk.
