Position Summary:

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks motivated and collaborative applicants for a full-time faculty investigator specializing in primary care and/or community-engaged research at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or higher in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, in the Center for Healthy Communities and Research. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of research collaborations, publications, and a strong desire to further their academic career and advance science and education. The faculty member will be expected to develop and sustain an active program of independent and collaborative research pertinent to the research priorities of the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, including analyses related to the delivery, conduct, or outcomes of primary care, population health, or programs to optimize health outcomes for vulnerable populations. This position may involve advising and mentoring graduate students, medical students, and/or research fellows.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Research
    • Support Department goals to increase research productivity with the Center for Healthy Communities and Research faculty and staff and engaging clinical faculty.
    • Build an independent and externally funded research portfolio.
    • Support multidisciplinary research teams in federal funding applications.
    • Maintain scholarly productivity through publications of peer reviewed manuscripts and speaking at national/international conferences.
  • Teaching and advising
    • Advise and mentor students and junior faculty on community-engaged or other applied research projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chair or Chair-designate.

Qualifications
  • PhD in social science related discipline, public and community health, or closely related field
  • Expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods applied research
  • Track record of scholarship and internal and external grant support
  • Communication Skills - Able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form to support collaboration, funding proposals to support research, and scholarly dissemination and publication.
  • Technical Skills - Demonstrates a strong background in scientific methods and grant writing.
  • Task/Project Management - Able to independently manage projects, tasks, teams and budgets
