The Office of the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is looking to fill an inaugural position: Associate Director of Marketing. The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the marketing strategy that brings the Arts & Sciences priorities to life via creative storytelling and delivery of A&S initiatives, accomplishments and research across all channels to engage our core audiences. They will work closely with the other parts of the M arketing team, as well as and will be closely aligned with the strategic objectives of Arts & Sciences.

T his role will initially serve as an individual contributor , although t here is an opportunity to build out this team further in the future . This individual will report to the Director of Marketing .

Specifically, they will have ownership of the following:
  • Suppor t overall marketing and brand strategy: tak e the A&S priorities and translat e those into overarching campaigns , content and events that are synced across all teams both internally and externally
  • Measur e audience insights, data and analytics across all audiences (faculty, staff, alumni, parents, students, prospective students, broader University) and build and scal e appropriate strategies to engage
  • Support annual master calendar creation that syncs up cadence of marketing and advancement campaigns and events throughout the year, and proactively manage and optimize
  • Partner with the College Foundation on program development and launch with strong alumni engagement
  • Develop project and creative briefs for campaign execution; lead strong relationships internally and with external agencies as needed to create impactful campaigns
  • Develop and execute social media strategy
  • In coordination with other members of the Marketing team, be astute to the broader community and ensure that messages are amplified in an appropriate way and tone
  • Identify and recommend new marketing opportunities, supported by data and insights
  • Coordinate closely with content, internal communications teams , and with the College Foundation to ensure campaign messaging and collateral are on- brand
  • Build external facing marketing strategies to engage with audiences and represent Arts & Sciences brand and priorities in a meaningful way
  • Support collaboration with College Foundation, University Advancement, and University Foundation relations
Minimum Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree and a t least five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience envisioning, developing, and implementing a successful strategic marketing plan based on goals and priorities
  • Strong knowledge of best-in-class marketing and audience practices
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into simple and clear communications and campaigns
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed capacity across Arts & Sciences, the University, the College Foundation, and broader audiences
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire others and affect change
  • Proven track record creating and delivering effective plans that translate strategic thinking into output
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and strong problem solving capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in higher education or working with high profile leadership teams
Anticipa ted hiring range: $75,000 -$105, 000

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. A hybrid work schedule may be available, dependent upon the needs of the department and the incumbent's performance.
