Summary:
- The Associate Director ("AD") will assist in the planning, development, coordination and administration of Retail Pharmacy Services at the Hospital of the University of PA, Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, Penn Medicine at Radnor, and Penn Medicine at Valley Forge. The AD will identify opportunities to enhance operations and the patient experience with a focus on standardization of workflow, fostering a service excellence culture, and maintaining relations with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The AD must be an effective communicator and be able to integrate themselves within the healthcare team, assist team with day-to- day issues, appropriately assess and escalate any pertinent issues/questions to senior leadership, improve upon existing outpatient framework and work toward continued growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and develop a strategic plan along with Director of Retail Pharmacy Operations for outpatient pharmacy services in all outpatient pharmacy locations, including employee mail order pharmacy, and hospital discharge pharmacy programs
- Assists with implementation and monitoring of all outpatient regulatory and audit programs including but not limited to URAC accreditation, State Boards, DEA, The Joint Commission, Department of Health, CMS, Medicare Part B billing, Third party/PBM contracting applications and compliance/negotiations Knowledge and oversight of 340B Program.
- The AD will resolve patient concerns not remedied at the on-site leadership level while providing operational leadership, direction and support to their assigned managers to ensure adherence to care delivery standards.
- Regularly meets with employees to improve communication and to build productive relationships.
- Encourages continuous growth and helps staff to realize full potential by identifying stretch objectives and creating learning plans.
- Assists in developing programs, services and initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, builds customer loyalty and generate profitable growth.
- Ensures patient and customer satisfaction through comprehensive and continuous measurement of customer satisfaction for all key customer groups.
- Establishes performance measurement and management system for key success elements: access, quality, service and value.
- Prepare recommendations, presentations and reports to Senior Leadership to communicate strategic objectives and timelines.
- Focus on pharmacy efficiency and customer service during the development of growth initiatives.
- Provide cross coverage when needed for outpatient services
- Partner with finance leaders and pharmacy leadership to develop annual budgets for assigned pharmacies while ensuring adherence to established annual budgets.
- Oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations within the designated geographic areas to ensure a high level of productivity and the efficient use of resources.
- The AD will assist with removing barriers and act as a liaison between outpatient pharmacy and ambulatory programs, providing on-going, meaningful communication with internal and external partners while ensuring internal staff is recognized and well-informed.
- Primary point of contact for outpatient managers and will assist with all team member questions that arise including but not limited to patient complaint management, safety net management, inventory management, payer contracts, pharmacy software, daily workload and redistribution strategies.
- Partners with counterparts in Ambulatory to ensure consistency across settings.

- Pharmacist (Required)
- Current RPh License in Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure in PA
- Pharmacist - Authorization to Administer Injectables (Required)
- Current Authorization to Administer Injectable License in PA
- Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
- Education Specialization: Accredited College of Pharmacy Equivalent Experience: PharmD or BS and 5+ years 5 to 10 years of Practice or leadership experience in Pharmacy
- Education Specialization: PGY1 training Equivalent Experience:
- Master of Arts or Science
- Education Specialization: MS, MBA, or other equivalent degree Equivalent Experience:
