Job Description
Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products, equipment, and fluid systems. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, process, facility, or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency, or cost. May be responsible for research, development, analysis, testing, and/or product life-cycle support in specialized areas such as core manufacturing, thermal hydraulics, propulsion plant fluid and mechanical systems, non-nuclear analysis of reactor safety, component design, modeling, simulation, procedures, shock and vibration, acoustics, or structural analysis and methods development. May direct and coordinate fabrication, installation, testing, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of fluid, mechanical, and/or electromechanical machines, equipment, components, tools, engines, and systems. Analyzes and develops solutions to engineering problems leveraging appropriate data and tools. Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering field. May develop system and component requirements based on overall project and customer needs. May prepare and review documentation and procedures for equipment installation, operations, and maintenance.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.

Pay Range
$62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.
