As a strategic partner and force multiplier, the Assistant Vice President for Business Process Engineering (AVP for BPE) will drive critical cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives as related to business engineering/re-engineering. The AVP for BPE is responsible for the management of the university's business policies. Success in the managing and subsequent training of business policies requires the AVP for BPE to constantly solicit and incorporate input and feedback from select finance as well as non-finance end users.
The AVP for BPE will also be a key player with the functional group who will capture and continuously document business processes and will also lead the effort to develop and deliver end-user training of both business policies and the corresponding new/updated business processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management of the university's business policies. This includes, by way of example, reviewing and updating existing finance policies, researching and drafting (in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner) new business policies and to continuously monitor all business policies with revisions made on a consistent basis with appropriate input from all relevant sectors across the university so as to keep current with both updated compliance guidance and needs of the university.
Facilitate and drive accountability.
Support the execution of strategic initiatives. This will be accomplished through owning initiatives directly and enabling other key partners to achieve their initiatives.
Drive the business engineering process. Foster alignment on priorities as they pertain to the business strategy.
Drive pivotal cross-functional initiatives by spearheading collaborative efforts, ensuring alignment across departments, and orchestrating the seamless execution of strategic projects to achieve organizational goals and enhance operational efficiency.
Identify and track key business objectives, ensuring timely and aligned project progression.
Serve as an expert in presentation and communication management. Lead operational reviews and rhythm of the business engineering process to drive decision-making and review progress on goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten years administrative and operational experience in higher education. Experience with university systems and processes, especially as they pertain to administrative functions but as they relate to academic operations also desired.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree Preferred.
Political and business acumen and the capacity to handle many assignments with sensitivity to priorities, shifting demands and to consequences.
Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information; leadership and interpersonal skills to help build, manage and maintain collaborative teams.
Ability to influence/persuade staff at all levels and to clearly articulate policies and decisions to all levels of employees.
Strategic Leadership: Solid experience in business strategy, operations, and championing transformative changes. Proven prowess in steering high-level cross-functional planning and effective execution.
