Alfred University, a Division III institution located in Alfred, NY, seeks applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Communications Office. The assistantship is for two years, beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The proposed start date for the nine-month (mid-August to mid-May) position is Aug. 20, 2024.

The successful candidate will report to the University's Athletic Communications Director and will assist in publicizing the University's 26 intercollegiate varsity athletics teams. 18 of Alfred University's athletics teams are affiliated with NCAA Division III and compete in the Empire 8 Conference while others compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association, National Cheerleaders Association, Intercollegiate Dressage Association, United States Collegiate Skiing & Snowboarding Association and the National Collegiate Rugby conference. The Athletic Communications Offices is staffed by two full-time positions (director and assistant director) and a graduate assistant.

Primary Responsibilities: Act as the primary contact for teams as assigned based off of knowledge of the sport(s). Duties include recording in-game statistics using PrestoStats; writing post-game recaps for use on gosaxons.com , the University's official athletics website and assisting in the generation of social media posts.

Preferred Skills : Experience with StatCrew/PrestoStats sports statistical packages (soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, football, tennis) is strongly desired but can be taught; experience using Sidearm Sports web page editing software; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office, social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, X and Instagram). Experience in writing is also preferred.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with ability to be accepted into Alfred University's MBA program is required. Experience working in a college sports information setting is strongly preferred.
