The District is accepting applications for Athletic Trainer.A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF:Basic principles of athletic training, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition, diet, and first aid.Symptoms and treatment of athletic injuries.Physical fitness, hygiene, and safety procedures related to athletic programsSafety and protective equipment used in sports.Disinfectant techniques.Taping, bandaging, and therapeutic techniques.Clean and sterile equipment techniques.First aid procedures and techniques.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.Community emergency medical resources.Concepts of adolescent development and respective learning patterns and behavior characteristics specific to gender.Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.Record-keeping techniques.Correct medical terminology and acceptable abbreviationsCorrect English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.Oral and written communication skills.Proper lifting techniques.General principles of supervision and training.BASIC FUNCTION:Under the supervision of an assigned administrator, administers preventative and rehabilitative treatment to students and athletes engaged in various high school sports and activities with specific instruction from coaching staff, team physician, and/or consulting physicians; fits uniforms and protective gear; remains available for athletic practices, home games, and specified away games; and performs related work as required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in athletic training, health, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field and one year of professional experience in athletic training, physical therapy or a related field.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Valid First Aid and CPR certification issued by an authorized agency. Valid California driver's license. Evidence of adequate insurance for motor vehicle which meets the California legal liability insurance requirement and continual insurance coverage throughout employment. The process will begin with the screening of qualified applicants. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a written, oral, and/or practical examination process. Successful candidates will be sent forward for Final Interview.
