Piper Companies is seeking an Automation Engineer to join an established Healthcare organization located in Maryland . This is a remote contract to hire opportunity . The Automation Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining automation scripts to streamline data exchanges between healthcare systems, improving patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities of the Automation Engineer:
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to enhance data feed onboarding and connections.
  • Maintain the operational status of production automation scripts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve errors or issues with production scripts.
  • Implement automation scripts with a focus on best practices and security measures.
  • Document the purpose, troubleshooting tips, and known issues of scripts on the Confluence wiki.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integrations and inter-system operability.

Qualifications of the Automation Engineer:
  • Experience with healthcare integrations and understanding of HL7 messages.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills in managing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of data encryption principles, including VPN and TLS connections.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex issues.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or information systems, preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in healthcare technology, with a working knowledge of Mirth Connect, JavaScript, HL7v2, and HL7v3 (CCDA).
  • Experience with Python and knowledge of FHIR, a plus.

Compensation of the Automation Engineer:
  • Target Converted Salary: $90,000-$110,000 depending on experience
