The occupant of this position will act as a student worker for the Aviation Maintenance Technology Department. The occupant will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team. Job duties will include but are not limited to: daily maintenance shop operations and student projects, maintaining shop equipment, managing specialty tools and parts inventory, and assists instructor with grading. This position requires someone who is able to work independently, well under pressure, and in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist AMTP staff with daily maintenance shop operations.

2. Assist instructors or lab technicians with student projects.

3. Assist with managing specialty tools.

4. Assist with parts inventory.

5. Assist with grading.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience

Must have completed the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Communication and Comprehension
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent computer skills.


Problem Solving
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Frequently required to stand for extended periods to perform job related tasks
  • Frequently required to handle various hand tools and shop tools
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift up to 30 pounds individually or more with assistance.
