PURPOSE:
Seeking an experienced technical and dynamic AWS Cloud Engineering Manager to lead our cloud platform engineering team. The manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our cloud platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) including Automation. They manager will be looked upon to make effective decisions, create a transformative environment of growth and success within the team/department, and ensure aligned to tactical and strategic goals to deliver for our stakeholders and business objectives. The candidate will lead a team of talented AWS cloud engineers and collaborate closely with other technology leaders and teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions that support our company's growth and innovation.

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 5 years Related professional experience, 1 year Supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.
Licenses/Certifications

Responsibilities include:
- Transform, Lead and mentor a team of AWS cloud engineers, providing guidance, coaching, hands-on technical support to foster the team/department development and professional growth.
- Drive automation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline cloud operations, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Monitor and analyze cloud performance, observability, capacity, and financial metrics to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
- Manage relationships with vendors and partners including AWS; engage on new service offerings, features, and technologies to deploy in our cloud environment.
- Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and training materials to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure operational excellence.
- Develop training transformation program to accelerate AWS Cloud learning and new ways of working.
- Establish on-call rotation and incident response activities to support the availability and reliability of our cloud services.
- Establish engineering patterns and framework for Cloud Engineering excellence.
- Define the vision of the team in alignment with the platform and the broader organizational strategy.
- Set objectives and holds team accountable for delivering them on time and at quality.
- Introduce and run efficient processes and operational mechanisms that drive outcomes and impact.
- Build enduring partnerships with stakeholders and vendor partners.
- Communicate strategy, standards, practices, results, and statuses effectively. Responsible for mentoring staff and maintaining labor (talent retention), hardware and software budgets.
Qualifications

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of overall experience in IT including hands-on Development and Systems engineering background.
- 8 plus years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing a team of cloud engineers.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on AWS cloud and Platform engineering services.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of IT experience of which at least 5 years must be in AWS Cloud Automation and Administration.
- Must be well versed in writing Terraform plans, Ansible playbooks, and Python code.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering role
- Experience with Datacenter migration and Enterprise Cloud transformation efforts.
- Experience with SRE principles and transformation.
- 3+ years of experience with implementation of Containerization (Kubernetes), Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google, etc.), DevOps tool chain (Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, bitbucket, etc.), and technical patterns (IaC, Automated Provisioning/Release, CI/CD, etc.)
- Solid understanding of Software coding techniques and experience with full spectrum of Software engineering (Build, Integration, Test, Releasing and Deployment) leveraging Python.
- Experience in Developing and/or challenging engineering solutions/practices and collaborating with peers within and outside of immediate team, including customers (Dev, Architects, Engineers)
- In-depth knowledge of AWS services and solutions, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable, resilient, and secure cloud environments.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation.
- Strong consultative, communication, organization and analytical skills are a must, with regular ideation and presentation of strategies to stakeholders and teams.
- Experience coaching and mentoring resources including driving development objectives.
- Self-motivated to remain informed on current and emerging trends and best practices.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with short timelines.
- Understanding of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, cloud-native development, and containerization architecture and best practices.
- Understanding of DevSecTestOps including current industry leading services and systems
- Experience leading a hybrid and remote team a plus.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless computing.
- Exposure to Artificial intelligence patterns and engineering of AWS solutions. Good knowledge of leveraging Amazon Kendra, Lambda, Bedrock, Rag models etc.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) preferred.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Communicates Architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies, while highlighting short-term trade-offs vs. long-term commitments and costs.
- Engage in and improve the end-to-end Lifecycle of services, starting from Inception & design, deployment, operations, and refinement.
- Support activities, including System design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Systems Scalability and sustainability leveraging automation and strive to improve our systems with changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Experience with Enterprise Cloud transformation efforts.
- Be part of our Cloud journey and as a member of our team help lead Software automation and reliability of our platforms.
- Actively participate and help guide customers on using Cloud-native design and architecture patterns.
- Provide Consultation on Technology infrastructure planning and engineering for assigned systems; Assesses the implications of technology strategies on infrastructure capabilities.
- Build strategy to migrate Legacy applications by conversion to multiple Microservices and hosting on AWS Cloud platform.
- Leverage Cloud-native architecture components including Containers, immutable infrastructure, Microservices, Service Mesh etc., to build highly available and Fault tolerant applications.
- Research on the global technology trends and their applicability to FEPOC products in support of our internal development teams and business.
- Promotes and ensures Modern application design, applies engineering best practices in the development and operations life cycle and mitigates vulnerabilities.
- Monitors and manages the Stability, Availability, and Performance of enterprise systems and platforms across IT domains.
- Maintain and continually improve (patch and upgrade) our Cloud-based infrastructure.
- Makes data-driven recommendations and decisions, and continuously improves the overall efficacy and efficiency of our software delivery capability.
- Mentoring peers as well as engaging with others across teams and socializing solutions.
Strong skills are desired in each of the following areas:
- Development: Experience programming with one or more languages: Python, Java, Groovy, Go, etc.
- IAC Tools for Platform Automation: Strong skills and experience in at least one: Ansible, and Terraform
- Containers: Docker or other OCI-certified containers- is a Plus
- Service Mesh: Istio, AWS App Mesh, OpenShift Service Mesh etc. is nice to have.
- Platform Monitoring, Observability, & Performance Tools: AppDynamics, Data Dog, LogDNA, etc. Is a plus.
- DevOps Tools: Such as :Git/Repo, Crucible, Bitbucket, Jira, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Circleci, Bamboo, Maven, Artifactory, Nexus etc.(Is required)
- Understanding of Cloud Native Architecture
- Linux, Shell scripting, and general admin skills
- AWS skills: EC2, S3, EBS, EFS, IAM, VPC, Lambda etc.
- Cloud and DevOps certifications, such as, AWS or Azure Solutions Architect and CKA is required.
