General Responsibilities:
The Benefits Support Specialist enters data into multiple HR systems within established timeframes. Enters data for payroll and benefits processing, processes educational assistance requests, and performs other administrative tasks for the operations of the Benefits Office. Consults with manager/director on special issues.
1. Accurately and timely enters data for payroll and benefits processing, including the following:
• Enters employee new hire and change information in HR systems for the University of
• Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) and UAB Health System.
• Ensures all approvals have been obtained before entry into the system.
• Communicates with departments regarding proper completion of paperwork.
2. Enters employee deductions into HR Systems - those deductions will include
• Parking
• Selected voluntary benefits
• On-site employee sales, i.e. Uniforms
• Other items as assigned
3. Assist with entering new physicians in the HR system:
• Ensures all documentation related to physician hires is complete, approved by appropriate individuals and accurate.
• Set-up and entry of all new physician information in HR System.
4. Process educational assistance reimbursements for non-UAB students:
• Review reimbursement requests for accuracy.
• Verify that employee is eligible for reimbursement based on employment status, length of service, number of hours taken, and prior grades.
• Complete and submit check requests to Accounts Payable in a timely manner.
• Track details for each employee on Educational Assistance log.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: High School diploma/GED; two (2) years of responsible work experience in a Human Resources or Payroll setting, which must include data entry experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a field related to H R Management. Experience working with Microsoft Access, Kronos, Infor/Lawson, ADP PayForce.
