The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Billing Compliance Specialist will be responsible for leading the Department of Urology compliance program.

Responsibilities
  • Assess clinical documentation to confirm it supports medical services for appropriate billing of reported services.
  • CPT and ICD-10 coding will be assessed and monitored.
  • Observe and educate Coding Specialist team members and assisting with their coding inquiries.
  • Mentor physicians on how to bill for services appropriately.
  • Coordinate retrospective monthly billing compliance reviews of inpatient surgeries and evaluation and management services for the department.
  • Preparation of monthly summary reports for the Department Administrator and the Office of Billing Compliance.
  • Coordinate existing compliance with existing Departmental policies.
  • Assist with preparation, editing, and revision of provider encounter forms as necessary.
  • Perform related administrative tasks as directed by the Department Administrator.
  • Assist with providing education and teaching to faculty and staff.
  • Performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • 4 years of billing compliance experience.
  • CPC certification (AAPC).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
  • EPIC or other practice management system experience preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to adapt to a growing and changing environment.
