SAIC is seeking a talented intern for part-time casual employment to assist with data analysis and drafting of technical reports including scientific journal articles. The ideal candidate will be a senior undergraduate student in the field of biomedical engineering, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related degree, with previous research experience. The individual will work under the guidance of US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and SAIC scientists on projects investigating the biological effects of laser exposure. This will be a fully remote position that supports the AFRL group in San Antonio, Texas.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.

Responsibilities:
- Analysis of data from cell culture experiments, such as processing of microscopy images.
- Establish and maintain familiarity with published literature on relevant topics.
- Comprehensive report writing, particularly in the form of scientific journal articles suitable for peer-review.
- Provide regular updates to principle investigators on progress.
- Senior undergraduate student currently pursing a Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree in biomedical engineering, biophysics, biochemistry, or related field.
- Experience in a professional or academic biomedical research environment.
- Demonstrated technical writing proficiency.
- Familiarity with cell culture and viability assays.
- Expertise with image processing and microscopy, including image analysis programs such as FIJI or ImageJ.
- Programming experience including MATLAB, Python, Arduino and LabVIEW
- Competency with computer-aided design (CAD) programs such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Experience with electroporation technology or simulated microgravity cell culture techniques
