The main project for the trainee will be in relationship to immune checkpoint inhibitor myocarditis. This is an immune-related adverse event caused by the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors. We developed a grading system for the severity of myocarditis by use of histopathological findings on endomyocardial biopsy. This grading system was developed in a cohort of 28 patients but has since expanded to >70 patients and has involved other centers. The hypothesis is that the histopathologic grading system will correlate with disease severity in an expanded cohort generalized to centers outside of MD Anderson.
