Position Summary

Works directly with PIs from other departments in specifying projects and analyzing results. Consults with faculty statisticians and database experts as needed to ensure quality of scientific and operational methods. Performs statistical analyses of clinical trials data independently or in collaboration with a Ph . D . level Biostatistician, as appropriate. Develops ongoing collaborations with investigators and research teams. Contributes substantially to the database infrastructure supporting clinical trials. Assists in preparation of grant proposals. Serves as a resource for other statisticians and staff in the division.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Consults with PIs from other departments, including collaboration on grant and manuscript preparation.

• Independently performs statistical analyses.

• Provides leadership in an area of statistical or database computing or statistical methodology in support of research at COH.

• Maintains a broad expertise in statistical computing.

• Collaborates in, or conducts research or development projects, relating statistical or computing methods to medical or biological research at COH.

• Supports the design, quality control, analysis and reporting of research within the Medical Center and the Beckman Research Institute.

• Collaborates with other senior staff from the division in the creation and maintenance of a database infrastructure to support clinical and biological research at COH.

• Assumes responsibility for monitoring data quality in a portfolio of protocols or a defined segment of the research database.

• Trains and assists in the orientation of new statistical staff.

• Develops, establishes schedules, and monitors status of special projects on an ongoing basis.

• Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.

• Documents computer programs and electronic databases.

• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attending inservice meetings, and workshops.



Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

• Master's Degree in statistics, biostatistics or a closely relate field

• Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

• 5 years experience in biostatistical consulting and analysis

• Strong knowledge of statistical software packages including SAS and Splus or R, as well as other relevant tools such as advanced SQL queries, SAS Internet, SAS BI, web-related programming tools, or specialized tools for statistical computing.
