The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base is searching for a Branch Chief and Lead Systems Integrator (NH-0801-04).
Description:
This position serves as the lead driver for multi-segment delivery of Missile Warning/Missile Defense (MW/MD) performance. Plan, manage system/enterprise requirements, guide end-to-end testing/verification, assure mission delivery, and sell off and transition MW systems capability to operations. Develop end-to-end Mission Integration Plans and System of Systems Schedules. Align all System/Segment providers to a common schedule. Manage integration "choke points" (i.e., integration pipeline) for Government decisions. Coordinate all mission integration efforts across all stakeholders. Monitor Lines-of-Effort (LOEs) / Segment Integration and help identify and resolve issues. Lead integration of multiple Systems to achieve Enterprise MW/MD Mission capabilities. Enable/manage joint test across the member Systems in the Enterprise. Assess performance, perform gap analysis, develop recommendations for architecture and/or cross-enterprise operating concepts. Provide a single accountable point to manage and integrate changes.
Space Sensing was established to accelerate the pace of innovation, in response to emerging threats such as hypersonic weapons that put our missile warning, tracking, and defense capabilities at risk.
Areas of focus include disaggregating missile warning satellite systems for greater resiliency, advancing sensor-to-shooter capabilities through more sensitive infrared sensor technology, strengthening resiliency with next-generation overhead persistent infrared (Next-Gen OPIR) technology, modernizing missile warning ground systems, and integrating digital automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to assess and evaluate the ability of various sensor designs to meet missile tracking requirements.

1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques to apply experimental theories and new developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods, and to plan and execute specialized programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and significance.
2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
3. Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed, and in planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations as well as communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors as well as analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum Master's degree in engineering or science field
- Demonstrated experience as a supervisor and technical leader
- Strong OPIR mission and end-to-end systems expertise (highly desired)
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and lead multiple teams and to communicate and coordinate work as one team with common goals
- Experience leading a geographically diverse team (highly desired)
- Knowledge and experience driving closure and resolving complex technical issues and challenges
- Demonstrated ability to deliver in fast-paced environment
- Experience with satellite systems, payloads, and complex ground systems through development, integration, and test
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to translate into actions and results
- Demonstrated expertise in system integration, as well as system engineering, and a working knowledge of the difference
- Demonstrated technical and leadership abilities to lead multiple contractors and Government teams.

- This position is on-site and eligible for telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- This position may be designated as an acquisition position covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The incumbent may be required to acquire and maintain the appropriate certification/s.
- This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). Unless specifically waived by the appropriate Component Official or if the employee is "grandfathered" under 10 USC 1736.
- Employee must be a member of the Acquisition Corps at the time of appointment
- Employee must execute, as a condition of appointment, a written agreement to remain in federal service in this position for at least (3) years.
- The employee is required to submit an initial and annual SF-450 (Financial Disclosure).
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
Career - This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing.
