POSITION TITLE: Bus Driver

Continuing positions to begin as soon as possible

Up to 4 positions available

POSITIONS: Hours per day are dependent upon route, 5 day/wk, 182 days per school year

These are split shift positions with start time as early as 6:00 am and afternoon shift ending as late at 5:00 pm (Example: 6:00 am to 9:00 am AND 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm)

HOURLY WAGE: $31.90 - $38.52 per hour and dependent upon prior experience (hourly rate includes $1.74 - $3.74 vacation factor which is only paid on hours worked (up to 40) and is based on the 2023/2024 salary schedule).

BENEFITS: Employees anticipated to work 630 hours in a school calendar year may be eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Pension, VEBA, and 403(b).

Up to 12 Sick Days, 2 Personal Days, and 13 Paid Holidays - prorated based upon start date & days worked

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Transportation/Executive Director of Operations

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, the Bus Driver will operate, fuel, and maintain a clean school bus to transport students, and may be required to load and operate other district vehicles.

  • Do you have a current OSPI school bus driver authorization? If so, with what school district?
  • Do you have a current and valid DOT physical?
  • Do you have the ability to read and follow maps and schedules?
  • Do you have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, unassisted?
  • Do you have the ability to evacuate a full size school bus within 25 seconds?
  • Have your ever been dismissed or discharged from a job, or have you separated employment in order to avoid discipline or discharge? If the answer is yes, please explain.
  • School bus drivers are subject to DOT random, pre-employment, post accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Have you ever failed an employer mandated or DOT drug test?
  • Have you intentionally and knowingly transported public school students within the State of Washington with an expired, lapsed, surrendered, or revoked authorization in a position for which authorization is required?
  • Have you ever had your driving license privilege suspended or revoked within the proceeding three years? If yes, please explain below.
  • Have your incurred three or more speeding tickets in the excess of ten miles per hour over the speed limit within any twelve-month period, within the last thirty-six months?
  • Have you misrepresented or concealed a material fact in obtaining a Type I or Type II authorization or in reinstatement thereof?
  • Have you been convicted of any crime against children or other persons as defined in RCW 43.43.830 (5)?
