JOB SUMMARY

To provide safe and efficient transport of students to and from school and extracurricular activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:
  • Must meet all the requirements of WAC 392-144, including but not limited to:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum age 21
  • Valid Washington CDL with S-School Bus Endorsement and P-Passenger Endorsement preferred ( WILL TRAIN)
  • Acceptable driving history regarding citations and accidents
  • Minimum of one year driving experience in truck or commercial vehicle, or three years in a passenger vehicle
  • Valid/current first aid certification
  • Submit to background check/criminal history disclosure
  • Meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of a school bus driver as outlined in this job description
  • Remain current on Type 1 training requirements
  • Demonstrate effective human relations skills
  • Submit to pre-employment and random UAs with favorable results
  • Be willing and able to meet the special needs of students on your route

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Must be dependable and reliable, with a good attendance record
  • Establish and maintain effective working rapport with students, parents, and staff
  • Operate school bus in all types of weather conditions, including but not limited to: fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow, and ice
  • Transport students on scheduled routes and various types of other trips in support of district-approved activities, both in and out of school district boundaries
  • Inspect and clean school buses and related equipment as required by state and district policy
  • Maintain control of student passengers at all times to ensure safety
  • Report hazardous actions or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver
  • Complete forms, records, and reports as required by state or district policies
  • Maintain compliance with traffic and licensing laws, rules, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
