The Business Analyst on the Business Strategy and Intelligence (BSI) team will directly impact IFP leadership's ability to make strategic business decisions. We are seeking people with inquisitive minds and excellent research and analytical skills who thrive in a highly collaborative team environment. This position will support various business initiatives using a combination of technical and analytical skills to ensure that data is converted into meaningful analysis and support the management and enhancements of interactive dashboards and reporting. You will mainly work within the Business Strategy and Intelligence (BSI) team supporting the needs of the IFP business while there will be times when support will be cross-functional. The BSI team works with sales, marketing, finance, and other teams to share insights and collaborate on how to continuously enhance our data and intelligence suite to support IFP business growth. Some of the work you will support includes producing, analyzing, and enhancing reporting, executive dashboards, insights, and other data as it relates to strategic growth. Must be able to work self-directed, not always with prescription, and must be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage technical skillset to support the design, development, testing, and implementation of analytics, insights, and reporting for the business
  • Leverage analytical skillset to review and analyze data compared to industry trends
  • Support reporting needs and requirements and help identify possible automated data solutions to non-standard requests
  • Solve moderately complex problems and conduct moderately complex data analyses related to external and internal ACA dynamics
  • Support work related to refining the team's data and reporting
  • Gather requirements from leaders and team members to develop strategy for data related projects
  • Provides explanations and information to others on technical issues

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional related experience
  • 1+ years of business or technical analysis experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Excel or any level of SQL or related experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft stack, and/or related software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to build solid relationships with stakeholders
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have a genuine curiosity, with the ability to simplify and report out potentially complex information and data in a digestible format
  • Proactive and self-motivated, ability to work well under ambiguous circumstances
  • A team player with a positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to the business's success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Python and/or Power BI experience
  • Healthcare industry experience, specifically Individual Exchange (ACA/Individual and Family Plans (IFP)) or Medicaid

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
