MaineHealth seeks a talented Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team and support the MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization (MHACO). As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a vital role in contributing to the success of our organization by applying data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques to population health data. Your work will help us understand the cost, utilization, and quality of care for defined patient populations, aligning with our mission of improving the health of our patients and communities.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Data Analysis and Reporting: Prepare various reports using Microsoft Power BI, including statistical analyses, to assist stakeholders in critical decision-making.

    • Ad Hoc Reporting: Respond to ad hoc reporting requests by creating reports tailored to specific situations.

    • Development of Analytical Tools: Develop new dashboards, and other means to enable transparency and monitor ACO performance of program progress, total cost of care, and clinical quality.

    • Trend Monitoring: Monitor cost, utilization, and quality of care trends for your assigned contract, identify factors driving changes, and predict future trends.

    Impact of the Role:

    • Analytical Contribution: By applying analytics techniques to healthcare data, you will help identify progress, performance, and opportunities for improvement in program, financial, quality, utilization, and other metrics.

    • Strategic Insights: Your analytic findings will help healthcare providers in value-based programs understand methods to maximize reimbursement and improve population health.

    • Healthcare Transformation: Your work will contribute to developing new strategies and tactics to improve overall healthcare delivery and transform our health system as we adapt from volume-based to value-based models of care.

    • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with systems, workflows, and general IT, including SQL and Power BI.

    • Healthcare Knowledge: Preferred understanding of health data formats, including payer claims and EMR medical record data, and healthcare payment models , such as shared savings, capitated or advance payment models, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), A solid understanding of quality measures and measure stewardship, and clinical and prospective risk models is a plus.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in healthcare informatics, computer science, business or healthcare preferred or equivalent experience
    • License/Certifications: Epic Cogito and Clarity Data Model Certifications or Proficiencies preferred or successful completion required within 2-4 months upon hire
    • Experience: 2+ years of business analysis or related technical experience; 2+ years of experience performing data analysis and working with analytic software suites or related technical experience; Healthcare experience preferred
    • Meet all training requirements outlined in the 'Epic Environment and Support Security Standards' in order to gain access to appropriate Epic environments
    • Experience working with Business Intelligence software programs preferred (examples include: SAP BI Suite, MicroSoft PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau, or IBM Cognos)
    • Experience with self-service data exploration tools (Epic SlicerDicer)
    • Healthcare experience preferred
    • Experience using Microsoft Office tools Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Experience with a programming language, MS SQL preferred
    • Clinical workflow knowledge in a hospital setting preferred
    • Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation
    • Strong facilitation, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as lead and manage multiple projects
