Summary

Position Summary: Are you a seasoned analytics professional passionate about leveraging data to drive transformative improvements in healthcare? MaineHealth seeks an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting the MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization (MHACO). As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will lead initiatives that turn complex data into actionable insights, guiding our efforts in enhancing care quality, optimizing costs, and improving patient outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare analytics (with an emphasis on claims data), strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and guide team members in delivering impactful analytic solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Mentorship and Team Leadership: Mentor junior analysts, guiding their professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment. Lead by example, setting high standards for data accuracy, analysis, and presentation.
  • Lead Data Analysis and Reporting Initiatives: Spearhead the development and refinement of reports using Microsoft Power BI and other analytic tools, providing stakeholders with critical insights that inform decision-making at the highest levels.
  • Development of Advanced Analytical Tools: Drive the design and implementation of Power BI dashboards (and other tools) that provide transparency and monitor ACO performance, program progress, total cost of care, and clinical quality.
  • Strategic Insights: Translate complex data into strategic insights, helping healthcare providers in value-based programs maximize reimbursement, improve population health, and achieve organizational goals.
  • Project Management: Manage small to medium-sized projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard. Work closely with stakeholders to prioritize projects and align them with organizational objectives.

Essential Skills:
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead within a team, manage projects independently, and mentor junior analysts. Strong leadership skills with a focus on collaboration, negotiation, and achieving high standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView/Sense) and advanced proficiency in SQL. Ability to rapidly adapt to new tools and technologies as they emerge. Ability to train and mentor junior analysts in coding best practices, and performance tuning.
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Extensive understanding of healthcare data formats, payer claims, EMR systems, and healthcare payment models, including Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and value-based care.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner to a diverse audience, including senior leadership.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare informatics, computer science, business, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of business analysis or related technical experience, with at least 4-5 years in healthcare analytics. Proven experience in leading analytic projects and mentoring team members.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in business intelligence software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView/Sense) and SQL. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with self-service data exploration tools is preferred. Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills are required.
Bonus Skills:

Advanced Statistical and Analytic Methods: While not required, experience with advanced statistical models such as regression analysis, machine learning techniques, forecasting, and predictive modeling would be a valuable asset.
