Business Intelligence - ITS Manager

Position Purpose

This People Manager role within Andersen's IT Department is pivotal in supporting the Renewal Business Intelligence product team(s). This position focuses on identifying, developing, coaching, leveraging, and augmenting organizational staff to drive agile product development, delight business stakeholders, and achieve the Enterprise's goals.

Key responsibilities include:

Liaison Duties: Acting as a bridge between IT Leadership, Business Leadership, and Product Owners, particularly in team resourcing and skillset management.

Product Roadmap Champion: Advocating for the product roadmap and ensuring the optimal allocation and availability of staff to maximize business value.

Strategic Alignment: Delivering consistent results that align with the broader Business Division and IT strategies, thereby empowering our business stakeholders and end-users.

Position Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Manage, lead, develop, and train a team of Business Intelligence Analysts, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle various data, reporting, and analytics tasks.

Technology Ownership: Oversee the Renewal by Andersen Analytics & Business Intelligence technology (Qlik Sense), including maintenance, administration, infrastructure, best practices, financial management, vendor relationships, and risk management, ensuring the technology meets current and future business needs.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Bridge the gap between data and decision-making, ensuring the organization leverages its data effectively to drive business value.

Team Velocity and Growth: Support team velocity and growth by correctly allocating staff, redeploying individuals based on medium and long-term technology needs, and augmenting teams with external staff when necessary.

Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners to anticipate the impacts of organizational strategic announcements, company/product visions, and release/product roadmaps on staffing needs.

Barrier Removal: Help remove organizational barriers to team success. Serve as a point of escalation for Scrum/Agile Product Teams. Promote Agile mindsets and concepts across business partners and leadership to create advocates for transformation.

Agile Advocacy: Advocate for Agile transformation and continuous improvement through tools and capabilities such as continuous integration, automated testing and deployment, and Agile Planning Management tools.

Financial Management: Manage financials, budgets, proposals, and conversations with leadership. Work effectively with IT leadership and finance to propose and procure funding. Oversee financial reporting around staffing and procurement budget usage. May manage team timesheets and approvals.

Stakeholder Communication: In partnership with Product Owners, manage occasional stakeholder communication and status reports, including budgeting.

Vendor Management: Manage relationships with both staffing and system vendors, including service level agreements and contract negotiations.

Community Engagement: Actively engage in Communities of Practice forums and communication (via multiple channels) to foster organizational maturity, stay relevant on industry trends, and learn best practices among fellow People Managers, IT leadership, and the larger Agile community.

Direction of Others

Team Oversight: Supervise a diverse team of employees and contractors, ensuring effective reporting relationships.

Strategic Integration: Assist Product Teams in incorporating Technical Currency considerations and Leadership/Strategic Guidance into roadmap planning and backlog prioritization.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competency Requirements

Experience: At least 8 years of experience overseeing products in the data, reporting, and analytics space.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

Agile Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an agile environment, including familiarity with user stories, iterative development, etc.

Management Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a people management role.

Certifications: Agile certifications preferred (e.g., Scrum, Scaling, Kanban, PMI-ACP). Other certifications are also welcome, such as PMP, DevOps, Lean, Six Sigma.
