Why does the job exist?

The Business Outreach Coordinator will represent the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation with the local business community. This position will establish partnerships with employers to promote business development, career development and placement of New Mexico job seekers.

How does it get done?

Vendor Relations- Build relationships with employers by attending various networking events, meetings, and conferences, identifying potential employer needs, and follow-up to assist them in learning about NMDVR services. Working with and assisting Job Development Service Providers in completing the required vetting process, tracking required certificates, and providing training on all DVR processes and billing requirements in relation to Job Development type services. Working with the W-9 Vendor Liaison to ensure new vendor requests are processed and added to the State Vendor file. Meeting with Vendors and employers, identifying their business needs, matching NMDVR participants that can meet those needs, referring them to other relevant expertise, & following up on an as-needed basis to make certain those needs are being met. Will plan, organize, or coordinate the activities of a social service program in community outreach Will oversee a
program or organizational budget and policies regarding participant involvement.

The NMDVR is required, pursuant to Section 116 of the WIOA, to report on performance accountability in the effectiveness of serving employers and the responsibility of the VR agency to report on this performance indicator for NMDVR. This position will assist employers with their recruitment & hiring processes including labor market information, job seeker search, posting job orders, using test results, and organizing hiring events. Also, connecting employers with job seekers through various job boards and websites specifically for people with disabilities and referrals. Assisting employers with personnel recruiting activities by analyzing job requirements. Provide ADA Education to Employers. Provide appropriate referrals to other resources to enhance their DVR participant employability. Coordinate with Business Team members to provide job development leads for all job seekers. Any additional duties within the classification as assigned.

Make job referrals to employers by screening NMDVR participants to ensure they have the required qualifications, issuing a Job Referral Form that informs them on the application process, and providing access to the job application. Follow up with employers and /or NMDVR Staff identifying current employment status and need for further services.

Learn and understand all NMDVR programs offered to constituents at the NMDVR and promote these services to businesses and job seekers alike. Assist job seekers in understanding how NMDVR works and explaining eligibility criteria and referral process. Direct potential NMDVR applicants to apply online or by calling a local DVR office to initiate a referral.

Who are the customers?

People with disabilities, New Mexico Department of Vocational Rehabilitation {NMDVR) Staff, Partner Agencies, and the local business community.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will preferably have:

-5 years experience in Vocational Rehabilitation in working with people with disabilities
-3 years experience in- Community Outreach: Vendor Relations- Building relationships and networking
-2 years experience in providing ADA Education to employers
-2 years experience and/or knowledge of providing Job Development services to people with disabilities

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Laptop/computer, soft phone with headset, frequent use of virtual meeting software, fax/copy machine. In-state travel to interact with various businesses.
