Job Description:
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Facilitate Bicycle Friendly University application process with relevant campus and community stakeholders and implement feedback from that process as necessary.
○ Recommend and implement new services, programs, opportunities and facilities to help UF achieve and maintain a minimum of Gold Level Bicycle Friendly University status.
• Facilitate a Campus Bicycle Master Plan in partnership with the Division of Planning, Design and Construction and other relevant campus and community stakeholders.
• Identify data needs and coordinate ongoing data collection to provide relevant information on campus bicycle programming and infrastructure effectiveness.
• Develop and implement bicycle education and outreach programming including:
○ Incoming student cycling/alternative transportation resources for distribution at Preview sessions
○ New employee cycling/alternative transportation resources
○ Lectures or presentations to classes and groups on and off campus
○ Teach learn to ride, bicycle safety and traffic skills classes
○ Appropriate educational content for faculty, staff, and university administrators
○ Student centered bicycle safety content
○ Programming to increase awareness of bicycles as a safe and viable alternative mode of transportation
○ Coordinate education and enforcement with the University Police Department
○ Safe driving programming and content relevant to bicycle interactions
• Assist in developing and participate in campus initiatives related to cycle commuting and safe cycling (e.g. incentive programs, programs that facilitate bicycle use)
• Coordinate and manage bicycle transportation related outreach events for campus audiences (e.g. specific bike events, participation in relevant campus-wide events)
• Coordinate and manage existing and future campus social bicycle programs (currently Gator Gears and Department Bike Share)
○ Hire, train and oversee intern mechanic team
○ Oversee repair and maintenance of fleet bicycles
• Participate in maintenance and repair of campus bike facilities including:
○ Dero Fix-It stations on campus
○ Bike rack condition monitoring
• Actively collaborate with key local partners, including The City of Gainesville, Alachua County, State of Florida Bike/Ped Coordinator, Gainesville Cycling Club, Gainesville Citizens for Active Transportation, the Freewheel Project and others on relevant bicycle programs and data collection efforts.
• Follow and understand relevant studies, reports and current best practices in bicycle programming.
• Serve as resource on bicycle related best practices for the campus.
• Provide input on additions or changes to on-road and end-trip bicycle facilities including:
○ Advise on bicycle rack placement
○ Develop comprehensive bike network plan, including bike parking & wayfinding
○ Provide input about on-road facilities (bike lanes, bike boxes, sharrows, etc)
○ Collaborate with key campus stakeholders to implement the Campus Master Plan and Transportation Master Plan as they pertain to cycling
○ Provide input on end trip facilities associated with newly constructed buildings, including bike parking and shower facilities
• Provide input on implementation of cycling relevant planning tools including:
○ Americans with Disabilities Act
○ Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices
○ Knowledge of regulations published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and Federal Highway Administration that pertain to bicycling
• Partner with University Police Department on bicycle registration and theft deterrence education program
Working hours - 8:30/9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday (with adjustment based on evening and weekend requirements)
A criminal background will be conducted.

Expected starting salary $21.50 - $24.90 hourly based on experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
○ Experience in a bicycle-focused program promoting the adoption of bicycling as transportation (rather than recreation focus)
○ Professional experience with and knowledge of bicycles, bicycle mechanics, the bicycle industry, current trends in bicycle education and bicycle infrastructure design
○ Familiarity with either/both the League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling/Traffic Skills 101 or Cycling Savvy Curriculum, Active Certification credentials preferred
○ Strong basic office computing skills.
○ Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse community, and with partners from a range of backgrounds to resolve complex situations and produce deliverables with tact and diplomacy
○ Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and work as part of a team to reach organizational objectives
○ Skill in organizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
○ Familiarity with bicycle/pedestrian-relevant sections of Florida Statutes/FDOT regulations
○ At least two years of experience in higher education bicycle programming and/or operations
○ Expertise in bicycle safety education best practices.
