Purpose of Position
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is responsible for providing quality care in a Cath Lab environment and a positive interpersonal experience for the patient.

Description

1. Assist the Physicians in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance to policy and procedure.

1. Assists in diagnostic interventional procedures operating interventional and other equipment/devices as appropriate.

1. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to insure safety and comfort while preparing for and while undergoing interventional procedures. Provides explanation of procedures and answer patient and answers pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.

1. Transfers patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.

1. Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.

1. Sets up sterile tray, cleans and disposes after procedure.

1. Participates in activities which promote professional self-growth and development

1. Assist physician with administration of contrast media

1. Assists in maintaining inventory for the department.

1. Responsible for all aspects of Electrophysiology (EP) program (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148&8149)

1. Keeps current of new developments in EP (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148 & 8149)

1. Responsible for preventative maintenance of interventional equipment.

• Cleans interventional equipment
• Performs routine safety checks and inspections of equipment to ensure these are current, in good order and ready for use.

1. P erforms other work related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
Specialist I - Grade S15A/Job Code 8146

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Associates Degree or Bachelors degree in Cardiovascular Technology OR Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree with minimum of 3 years recent experience as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS and IABP required within six (6) months of employment.

Specialist II - Grade S16R/Job Code 8147 & 8156
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

• All qualifications of Specialist I
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) (job code 8147) OR Completion of EP training program (job code 8156 ) OR 5 years recent experience (within the past 7 years) as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab.

Specialist III - Grade S17R/Job Code 8149
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

• All qualification of Specialist I
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) OR 5 years recent experience (within the past 5 years) in Cardiovascular EP.
• Completion of EP training Program
