Incumbent constructs, erects, installs, or repairs structures and fixtures made of wood, including; concrete forms, structural and metal insulated panel construction, building frameworks, partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; and wood stairways, decking, window and door frames. Provides support to all aspects of the jobsite and work with sub-contractors to keep the job moving forward.
Project is located in Napakiak, AK and will begin in Summer 2024 and be complete by Summer 2025. The work hours will be a baseline of 6 days per week 10 hours per day. Increase or decrease in work hours will be adjusted throughout the project dependent on construction activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Layout, frame, pre-cut all needed materials.
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, hardware, and building weather barriers.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and construct walls, floors and roofs in accordance with project needs.
  • Inspect and report on job site as needed to ensure compliance with all company policies and safety standards.
  • Operate various hand tools, power tools, and equipment needed for carpentry duties.
  • Perform repetitive tasks including fastening, cutting, and shoveling while operating safely. Assist in cleaning and closing a job site at the completion of a project, project shut down and as needed.
  • Material inventory and handling on the jobsite for various scopes of work and subcontractor support.
  • Follow safety requirements and utilize personal protective equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • One (1) year or more of related carpentry experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and ongoing random drug testing.
  • Ability to obtain any medical clearances required for the position.
Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid commercial driver's license.
  • One (1) year of work experience in the construction industry in rural Alaska.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs minimum at all times. Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and will be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
