Job Duties
The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) with daily Pharmacy operations such as documentation, reporting, and data collection.
Provide project management, administrative support, and operations support to the Pharmacy team such as coordinating meetings and/or presentations, filing, and maintaining Corrective Action Plans from the Clinical Quality Improvement monitoring.
Assist with the management of the Hepatitis C Program.
Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB, ExCPT) or willing to become licensed within 9 months
General knowledge of medications and healthcare
Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Ability to understand and follow applicable Federal and State Laws and regulations such as Health Information Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), professional standards, and ethical principles
Effective communicator with both oral and written skills
Ability to work in a team-based environment
Ability to assist with clinical, administrative, and operational aspects of correctional healthcare pharmacy operation
Ability to complete multiple co-occurring assignments thoroughly and accurately with limited supervision
Additional Considerations
Work experience in an administrative, pharmacy, retail, or medical setting.
Hepatitis C medication knowledge or experience
Correctional healthcare knowledge or experience
Project management assistance experience
