Certified Sterile Proc Tech PRN

Description
Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
Reports to: Director - Surgical Services and Certified Sterile Processing Supervisor
Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.

Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.

Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.

Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.

Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED - Required

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Licenses
Health Technologist and Technician, All Other
Must be one of the following:
1)Certified/Registered Central Service Technician by International Association or Healthcare Central Service Material Management;
2)Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician by Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc;
3)Employed as a central service technician in a healthcare institution before January 1, 2017; or
4)Obtains a Certified/Registered Central Service Technician by International Association or Healthcare Central Service Material Management or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician by Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc no later than two (2) years after the person's date of hire
