A San Diego employer is seeking a Chief Engineer responsible for various tasks:
Responsibilities:
* Overseeing budget and expenses, participating in annual departmental budget preparation.
* Establishing procedures for inventory security, supply replenishment, and waste minimization.
* Making staffing-related decisions in line with company policies, and alerting management to serious issues.
* Ensuring staff training and provision of necessary tools and equipment.
* Educating employees on safety regulations and informing management of any threats or emergencies.
* Promoting teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
* Interacting with guests, vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other contacts to ensure satisfaction, adequate inventory, bid reviews, and compliance matters.
* Responding courteously and promptly to guest inquiries, complaints, and requests.
* Possibly determining security requirements or managing relationships with third-party security firms.
* Collaborating with corporate product managers, engineers, and architects on renovations and projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
* Maintaining and repairing various aspects of the hotel, including HVAC, lighting, and water treatment systems

Required Skills & Experience
* Some college or advanced vocational training plus four years of experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, including supervisory experience. Hotel experience is preferred.
* Need to have high rise experience. Could work for an office building.
o In hotel background, in a mid-rise or low rise, the systems are a lot different.
* Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, and licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, mathematical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
* Availability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays if required. Shift will be Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm
* Experience in management. Performance reviews, budget, daily schedules, work orders, PM programs, Order in equipment, work with vendors
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
* Experience working with Air conditioning units - VRF
o Automated controls through climatec, lighting system through neutron. Program these systems
o Use Aeon Makeup air units
