The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work, through the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) is accepting applications for an Early Childhood Quality Coach for the Child Care Resource and Referral Unit. As a member of SWORPS' Field Based Services, this position works in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and peers to provide training, coaching, technical assistance and support to DHS licensed childcare directors and educators as well as families to improve the quality of childcare. In addition, the Quality Coach works in collaboration with community agencies directly involved with families. Counties served in the Upper East region include Carter, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical assistance through coaching, consultation, and professional development to childcare agencies utilizing a variety of delivery services including onsite visits, phone consultation, and email.
• Provide targeted technical assistance to childcare program educators to determine needs, develop objectives, provide resources, implement strategies, and monitor progress toward meeting the highest quality standards.
• Multiple areas of focus include curriculum and assessment, rating assistance, observational tools, health and safety, and program administration and management.
• Prepares and submits all required reports and completes all data entry.
• Demonstrates ability to support the social and emotional development of children including developmentally appropriate practices and positive behavior guidance.
• Attend Train-the-Trainer Institutes required to provide training and technical assistance. to childcare programs and families.
• Prepare, design and implement a training plan for delivery of research-driven professional development for childcare educators and families.
• Work collaboratively with other individuals and community agencies providing technical assistance and training to childcare educators, families and consumers.
• Participate in local, state and agency sponsored events or meeting
Qualifications:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree & 3 years of experience in direct service and management working with children (birth - twelve) their families or programs that serve them. One year of experience can be substituted with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
Requires a vehicle at their disposal, a valid driver's license and a current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage. Occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. Must be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends and overnight as well as travel within the State.

• Ability to prioritize work and travel schedules to balance duties including coaching, technical assistance and trainings to clients - both families and childcare agencies
• Knowledge of best practice in childcare quality, early childhood education and child development
• Strong Knowledge in MS Office.
