The Department of Political Science and Public Service at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Public Law beginning in August 2025. The Assistant Professor will:

  • teach a 3-3 load including introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in public law and judicial politics;
  • offer a robust pre-law advising program;
  • have opportunities to teach in other areas of expertise in the political science curriculum;
  • pursue a coherent scholarly agenda;
  • contribute to the pursuit of the goals of UTC's strategic plan; and
  • enjoy the support of a collegial department that values viewpoint diversity, instructional excellence, and work-life balance.


Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field by August 2025 and must submit the following materials via the UTC faculty job site:

  • letter of interest, including specific areas of teaching interest;
  • CV, including current email and phone number;
  • unofficial transcripts;
  • evidence of teaching effectiveness, including a statement of teaching philosophy, summary of teaching experience, course evaluations, and sample syllabi;
  • statement of research agenda; and
  • names, titles, and email addresses for three references.
