Job Goals:
  • To provide direction, planning, monitoring, and oversight of local school Child Nutrition Program (CNP).
  • To provide food preparation services for Cullman County Schools.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Child Nutrition Program.
  3. Valid ServSafe certification.
  4. Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
  5. Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to assist in the supervision and development of assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
  8. Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration, and planning skills to accomplish school goals and job requirements.
  9. Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification provided by the Cullman County Health Department and/or the National Restaurant Association.
  10. Possess and maintain required health certifications.
  11. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities and essential functions-continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  12. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  13. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  14. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  2. Assists in preparation and service of food according to the written menu of the day.
  3. Participates in and assists in supervising job rotation/schedule as assigned by CNP Manager or Supervisor.
  4. Assists CNP manager in ensuring the smooth function of activities during meal times, filling in when necessary.
  5. Assists CNP manager in taking inventories, making reports, ordering food, supplies, and following menus.
  6. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in operation of and maintenance techniques for all food service equipment.
  7. Notifies the CNP manager when food staples or supplies need replenishing.
  8. Assists in the general cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas.
  9. Assists in storing commodities and other food and supplies.
  10. In the absence of the CNP manager, assumes the manager's responsibilities.
  11. Observes proper sanitation measures necessary in preparing, serving, and storing food.
  12. Observes safety precautions in the kitchen and related work areas.
  13. Cooperates with the principal and CNP Manager in maintaining high standards in the food service program.
  14. Works cooperatively with co-workers, teachers, parents, and deals effectively with students.
  15. Follows written and verbal instructions and communicates effectively with others.
  16. Assists school CNP staff in interpreting the goals and objectives of the school food service program to students, teacher, parents, and community members.
  17. Cooperates with health officials in supporting all local and state public health laws and codes.
  18. Participates in and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing educational programs for self-improvement and for other CNP personnel.
  19. Maintains professional appearance and dresses appropriately for school food service program.
  20. Models and encourages CNP employees to observe high standards of grooming, safety, and effective work habits.
  21. Uses computer software/technology for CNP operations as assigned.
  22. Demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership.
  23. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  24. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  25. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
  26. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  27. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  28. Uses collaboration skills to work as an effective team member.
  29. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  30. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  31. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment/Salary: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
