Position Objective:

Fleet Management Clerk ll provides support to the Fleet Managers by compiling, maintaining and distributing records and reports from TMS (Train Management System) IMS (Incident Management System) and AMS (Asset Management System) Including PC based systems pertaining to train operations, equipment incidents, periodic car/shop status, consist line - ups, engine fuel tracking and personal injur ies.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for various types of written, phone and fax correspondence with system maintenance facilities and operations offices.
  • Review the Chief's log to TMS, IMS and AMS related issues.
  • Communicate with different departments such as Maintenance of Equipment, Transportation and Train Crews as to TMS, IMS and AMS related issues.
  • Perform train and incident notifications, follow-up, and documentation in a highly time-sensitive environment.
  • Compile information to complete and distribute operation reports on a timely basis.
  • Perform additional clerical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to learn quickly; ability to perform basic mental mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Must have basic reading comprehension ability; interpersonal and customer service skills; time management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • S killed in exercising independent judgment; ability to anticipate and analyze problems and take corrective actions; must be able to evaluate a situation to make decisions and work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task and function effectively under changing priorities.
  • K nowledge of computer systems and word processing; ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to shift between extremely busy times and prolonged downtime; must be safety conscious.

Required Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC).
  • Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
  • Must successfully qualify within a thirty-day (30) period.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, highly visible environment where priorities are constantly changing.


The following is/are preferred:
  • K nowledge of Metro North's operating and safety rules.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a position with significant responsibility.

According to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").

Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MNR drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
