The Clinical Health Psychologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats psychological, emotional, cognitive, and functional status of individuals who are coping with injury and/or health issues using a biopsychosocial approach. Adjunct academic faculty appointment through a department in conjunction with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is available. Ideal candidate is board certified or board eligible. The Clinical Health Psychologist may work in an inpatient consultation-liaison role, in integrated clinics and/or outpatient settings as part of a multidisciplinary team within our large Health System. The Clinical Health Psychologist performs evaluations to determine the presence of emotional and behavioral symptoms or disorders likely to impact daily functioning and quality of life to promote optimal outcome and adjustment to medical conditions. They provide evidence-based interventions to reduce symptoms and optimize functioning. Evidence based interventions such as ACT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, ERP, DBT, and pain management may be utilized. When appropriate, the Clinical Health Psychologist also involves the patient's support system for purposes including but not limited to psychoeducation regarding the impact of injuries/ health issues on psychosocial functioning and promoting their support of the patient as they adjust to medical issues. The Clinical Health Psychologist is also responsible for the treatment of primary or comorbid psychological disorders that may occur in conjunction with their difficulty adjusting to health issues. Responsibilities also including serving as a consultant and participating in training and research endeavors. Opportunities for program development, education of medical staff, and supervision of psychology trainees are available. Opportunities for presentations to staff and community on areas of expertise are also available. Participation in department rotational on-call is expected throughout the year. The Clinical Health Psychologist is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate degree (PhD OR PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA approved program in accredited degree-granting college or university. Pre- doctoral internship from an APA approved program. Post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Health or Rehabilitation Psychology preferred. Broadly trained clinical health psychologist with firm foundation in diagnosis and treatment of medically complex populations. Familiarity with psychosocial consequences of chronic illness, medical trauma, mental/emotional disorders, and a wide variety of psychotherapeutic treatment modalities.

• Licensure/Registration: Licensure by the State of Florida as a Psychologist. Must be eligible for Medical Staff Privileges. Experience in Health Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, or related field preferred. Ideal candidate is board certified or board eligible.
