Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Duties & Responsibilities

To provide daily Laboratory support in the Anatomic Pathology division.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Enter patient information into Computer and Log Book.
• Enter patient Diagnoses into Computer and Log Book.
• File Reports and prepare reports for City Storage.
• Prepare specimen for Reference Laboratory
• Answer telephones, Copy, Fax
• Quality Control of refrigerator temperature.
• Obtains specimen: must make sure that specimen is properly labeled and accompanied byrequisition form that is properly filled out with same information contained on specimen container.
• Clock in specimen.
• Maintains upkeep on designated laboratory instruments before and after usage.
• Remove hazardous waste to chemical room.
• Must be aware of, contribute to, and observe safety rules at all times.
• Complies with DOH, CAP, CLIA and CMS regulations and guidelines

Minimum Qualifications
1. VaIid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the NYSED.

Special Note:
1. Successful completion of an appropriate training program for phlebotomy (satisfactory to the laboratory director) must be completed prior to an individual performing such work.
