Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) is responsible for the expert completion of a wide range of duties designed to service in-house, outpatient and outreach clients/customers. He/she is responsible for the pre-analytical section of the laboratory as approved by the State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Licensing Board, where lab specimens are received and processed. This position is responsible for accessioning all specimens delivered to the laboratory. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the inspection of incoming specimens to assure all have been properly collected and labeled; the review of accompanying outpatient orders and billing information for accuracy and completion; and the registration and order entry of appropriate non-patient orders into the laboratory information system.
