Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist role at Empower is essential in ensuring that our patients and providers receive exceptional service and support, reflecting our values of quality, service, people, and innovation. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will manage inbound and outbound calls, providing high-quality customer service. Your expertise in medication counseling will empower patients to use their medications safely and effectively.

In this vital role, you will consult with prescribing practitioners to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of medication use, review medication orders for their completeness and compliance with state and federal drug laws. Your attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards will be crucial in maintaining our high standards of service and compliance and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our pharmacy operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages inbound and outbound calls to serve our patients and providers.
  • Provides quality customer service while using effective communication.
  • Provides counseling to patients regarding effective usage of medications to support appropriate and effective medical therapies. Provides awareness of potential drug interactions.
  • Consults with prescribing practitioners to help ensure safe, accurate and appropriate medication use.
  • Reviews medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness.
  • Documents patient interactions, interventions, and recommendations.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Food and Drug Administration
  • Maintains required licenses and certifications, must be in good standing with all regulatory agencies.
  • Stays updated on pharmaceutical developments, guidelines, and industry trends to enhance clinical knowledge and practice.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality and ensures Health Insurance Portability and Accountability compliance by protecting the privacy and security of protected health information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • 2+ years related experience in a clinical setting required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred.
