Position Summary

Manages an assigned set of multiple observational/retrospective research protocols to assure efficiency and regulatory compliance of the protocols, Responsible for compilation, registration and submission of data; monitors study compliance and maintains a system for effective data flow associated with research protocols. Has proven to function independently and proficiently as defined in the position accountabilities. Serves as a technical resource for the Department.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts protocol management for an assigned set of multiple hematology observational/retrospective research protocols.

• Maintains current and accurate protocol documentation; notifies investigators of pertinent protocol changes.

• Ensures that patients are appropriately registered; maintains documentation of patient registration.

• Compiles and submits data on appropriate forms according to protocol requirements.

• Might assist with transplant long term follow-up data collection.

• Might participate in the training and quality control monitoring of data collected on observation/retrospective studies.

• Serves as a technical resource for Department.

• Identifies and participates in additional training/in-service that would benefit all data management staff.

• Plays active role in recruitment of patients to study.

• Performs protocol specific clinical duties as required per the research study.

• Participates in database design and development.

• Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information

• Coordinates special projects and study work-ups, working closely with other CRAs and the Statisticians.

• Makes recommendations and participates in Policy and Procedure development regarding particular areas of team assignment and general data management issues.

• Works with supervisor to ensure performance of appropriate levels of quality

• Identifies and communicates important protocol and data management issues or problem areas to supervisor.

• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain certification/licensure and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

• Is self-motivated in organizing and following through on assigned projects.

• Ensures work environment is organized and functions efficiently

• Attends and participates in meetings as required.



Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

• Associates degree. Bachelors degree preferred. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

• At least five years of experience working as a Clinical Research Associate/Coordinator or Data Manager

• Certification through the Society of Clinical Research Associates or the Association of Clinical Research Professionals required
