Description

SAIC is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect in support of our National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) customer and the Office of Space Commerce. This exciting position requires AWS Cloud Architect skills to support development of critical emerging space industry infrastructure. The selected candidate will bring AWS Cloud administration and architecture related technical skills to the Program by supporting a developer ecosystem spanning several Federal Government Agencies and private contractors. Candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively across development, infrastructure teams and with multiple stakeholders. As new requirements are identified, candidate will offer insight into the capabilities of AWS infrastructure in achieving larger mission outcomes beyond IT. The successful candidate will initiate, supervise, and lead requirements gathering sessions to understand client requests and provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to the program staff. The AWS Cloud Architect will provide detailed analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements to optimize and secure the current Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Executes AWS Cloud Architect activities as part of an AWS team, in support of a DevSecOps environment. This includes:
    • Provide technical leadership to support development and implementation of government cloud solution architectures with a focus on security and scalability.
    • Provide specific, detailed diagrams and documentation that defines the cloud architecture.
    • Manage workload and daily tasking of cloud engineering team. (2-4 resources)
    • Maintain technical expertise relevant to industry standards in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration; cloud deployment models; cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service; automation; hypervisors; containers; virtual compute, storage, and networks; virtual infrastructure management; self-provisioning; and scaling.
    • Evaluate and report on new cloud technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud infrastructure.
    • Provide systems engineering activities such as: Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System Operation Performance Analysis and Lifecycle Cost Analysis Estimation.
    • Perform analysis to translate customer requirements into cloud architecture specifications.
    • Coordinate with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
    • Recommend and make decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives.
    • Serve as the organization spokesperson on advanced projects.
    • Act as advisor to management, project team and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
Qualifications

Qualifications

• Education:
    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline.
• Certifications:
    • Appropriate AWS Certifications via the Application Architect or Solutions Architect Certification Path. - REQUIRED
    • DevOps/DevSecOps certification of any variety (AWS, Docker DCA, Puppet Pro, etc). - Preferred
    • Agile type certification of any variety (SAFe, PMI, etc). - Preferred
• Eight (8) or more years of demonstrated experience in the following:
    • Proven track record of work experience as a cloud architect, designing and deploying cloud solutions.
    • Expertise in Identity Management and MFA design and maintenance.
    • Demonstrated experience in the following activities: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Services (compute, storage, network, security, administration, automation, application services, databases).
    • Ability to utilize a variety of tools such as Git, Kubernetes, YML, CLI, Terraform, ArgoCD and AWS security capabilities (WAF, GuardDuty, Security Groups, IAM, etc.). Experience with other DevSecOps toolchains is beneficial.
    • Configuration and change management experience.
    • Knowledge of an IT Service Management (ITSM) procedures and practices.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills working in a remote environment.
Clearance:
  • Must be a US Citizen and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
