Cloud Engineer

TS/SCI <- must be willing to sit for CI Poly

ALTA IT is looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our team to support our intelligence customer activities on site in Springfield, VA.

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with a highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; provide customers technical support. The Cloud Engineer will be integrated with an agile environment participating in scrums and other meetings.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and Maintain Platform as a Service Offering using RedHat OpenShift
  • Work with the A&A Team to maintain security requirements for the operation of systems
  • Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc.)
  • Produce detailed documentation
  • Maintain System in AWS environment using EC2, S3, ELB, and RDS
  • Maintain System in a VMware vSphere environment, using NSX, and NetApp StorageGRID
  • Automate and optimize service deployments


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Active TS / SCI Clearance and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.


Required Skills:
  • Prior experience building and maintaining Platform as a Service offerings via Cloud-based providers
  • Strong understanding of RHEL/CentOS Linux distributions
  • Strong understanding of RedHat OpenShift and/or other Kubernetes distributions
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker)
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
  • Strong communication skills


Desired Skills:
  • Experience administering production RedHat OpenShift clusters
  • Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS/CLI
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt or Terraform
  • Experience working with one or more Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare)
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development


Desired Certifications:
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • RedHat Certified OpenShift Administrator


Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 8 years IT experience
  • 8 years experience with Platform as a Service offering via Cloud-based provider.
